School Support – Matric Dance (South Africa)

In South Africa, matriculation (or matric) is the final year of high school and the qualification received on graduating from high school, and the minimum university entrance requirements.

This dance is the equivalent of the American prom and takes place during the matriculation (i.e., final) year of high school (12th grade). It is the first formal event in the life of the teenager.

These students go all out to make it a  once in a life time experience  celebrating graduation from 12 grade. Girls spend a large amount of money having the perfect dress and hairstyle for that night, boys work to get the sharpest suit and ensemble.

A single mother requested help in supporting  the expenses associated with the matric  dance.  The foundation provided her financial support.
